Artist in residence
14 - 27 September 2015
Enoch Cheng is a director and writer. Graduating from the University of Hong Kong with a degree in English Literature and History Art, he made his debut film, Queen's Encounter in 2011.
The film looks at the everyday subtleties in contemporary urban lives through seemingly mundane conversations - themes that he explores through his later works.
Since Queen's Encounter, Cheng has produced a number of films (Fishy Stories and I Hope You Don't Mind) and a play (Destination) with the support of Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Art Basel Hong Kong. His works explore recurrent themes of place, travel and destination which he will continue to explore through his residency at CFCCA.
Enoch will be holding an Open Studio when he returns to the residency in December 2015.

The Manchester Contemporary, launched in 2009, is an invitational art fair that gives a platform to emerging galleries and their artists, using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. The only gathering of high–calibre, world-class contemporary art galleries outside London, The Manchester Contemporary brings together art lovers and buyers with the best of critically engaged contemporary art from regular exhibitors and new additions, as well as offering guided tours and visitor programmes.
The Manchester Contemporary returns for its 6th year with a record number of galleries as demand to participate in the fair continues to grow. It has remained consistent in reflecting the growth and strength of the best of a UK wide art scene that is constantly evolving.
