The CFCCA archive and library redevelopment project is valuable for its collections of specialist cultural and historical artefacts which illustrate the social history of the Chinese community living in Manchester, as well as being the only complete record of Chinese contemporary art activity in the UK.
A rich resource of ephemera including leaflets, books, photographs and newspaper cuttings tells the important story of CFCCAs 30 year history while providing a unique insight into the history of the Chinese community in Manchester.
The project will reach a diverse audience in order to build bridges between different faiths, cultures and communities within a specific context. The redevelopment will ensure a wide variety of people learn about Chinese heritage in Manchester through an array of meaningful engagement opportunities, from involving local communities in the project delivery to arranging a series of public events and workshops related to the heritage across the CFCCA’s public programme.
