Luke Ching is a Hong Kong-based artist who received a MA Degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Luke Ching is an artist of International repute and he has exhibited extensively and completed a number of International residencies including Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan, Vermont Studio Centre, USA and PS1 in New York.
Luke’s work is often made as spontaneous responses to his surroundings. With a particular focus on the city his works attempts to respond to people and places around him, observing and then rebuilding a city with works that sit in-between real life and fiction.
To date the artist has been conducting various interventions across Manchester, looking at everyday occurrences or accidents. So far he has tested out the chilly temperature of Manchester’s canal with his specially designed kettle chip arm bands, added a few more accidental pigeon deaths to the city streets, and has invited members of the public to take part in a fictional fortune telling workshop for the national lottery draw.
