30 Years of CFCCA

Exhibition programme During the six month programme CFCCA’s galleries will feature a rotating exhibition of high profile artists who have exhibited internationally, with work featured at festivals across the world including Documenta and Venice Biennale. Book from the Ground by Xu Bing – 5 – 28 Feb 2016 Xu Bing is an internationally acclaimed artist whose work has been exhibited by galleries and biennials across the world. CFCCA exhibited the Book from the Ground project: a book written completely in symbols and emoticons. La Town by Cao Fei – 4 -27 March 2016 Cao Fei is a Chinese multimedia artist. Her works have been critically acclaimed and globally showcased. La Town is the story of a post-apocalyptic metropolis which is made entirely from the filming of sets and miniature models. The First Trumpet in the New Millennium by Tsang Kin-Wah – 1 – 24 April 2016 Tsang Kin-Wah is a Chinese contemporary artist, known for his paintings and multimedia installations created out of the visual manipulation of text and language. His new commission looks at our turbulent recent history following the new millennium, marked with destruction by the September 11 attacks in 2001. Between Going and Staying by Lee Mingwei –6 – 29 May 2016 Born in Taiwan in 1964 and currently living in New York City, Lee Mingwei creates participatory installations. Ming Wei’s Between Going and Staying takes place in a dimly lit gallery as fine black sand falls continuously through a broken light bulb suspended from the ceiling, quietly filling the entire room. RoCH Fans and Legends by susan pui san lok –3 June – 3 July 2016 RoCH Fans & Legends is an exhibition and tour finishing at CFCCA for the 30 year programme. Commissioned work by artist susan pui san lok, the exhibition features single-screen and multi-screen moving image film works adapted from The Condor Trilogy, a classic Kung Fu series published in the late fifties.
