A Window on… Women, women, women!
Thursday 29 March, 6pm to 7pm
Location: Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art
Tickets are £4, this includes a glass of wine or refreshing Jing Tea on arrival
Discover more about the presence and practice of women artists in contemporary mainland China. This talk with Dr Monica Merlin of Birmingham University, explores notions relevant to understanding the work of female Chinese contemporary artists - such what the category ‘womans art’ means in China - and the wider framework of feminism, society and politics.
This event is part of our ‘Window on…’ series designed to offer further insight and encourage conversation around our exhibitions. Our current exhibition is NOW: A Dialogue on female Chinese contemporary artists, which runs until 29 April 2018. We offer these events in addition to our Thursday Lates - last Thursday of every month when we open our doors to the public until 8pm. It’s a chance to enjoy a relaxed viewing of our exhibitions along with a glass of wine or refreshing Jing tea.
Dr Monica Merlin is Programme Leader of the new MA in Contemporary Arts China at Birmingham University.
