CFCCA presents the first ever UK solo exhibition of Nie Zhengjie, 2012 winner of the Liverpool John Moores Painting Prize China. Nie will be the second prize winner to exhibit at CFCCA, and has been invited to join us for a two month residency this summer to coincide with the exhibition.
Nie’s winning painting ‘Being’ illustrates the personal narratives or migrant workers in China. The artist explores the notion of migrant workers as a vital force in the rapid development and modernisation of cities which cannot grow without them; yet they are a group often under-represented and rarely featured in the media.
Urban Farmers coincides with the opening of the John Moores Painting Prize 2014 final exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery, as part of Liverpool Biennial.
